Who is Fit Nick? I'm an exercise and health nut, with an emphasis on the "nut" part. For me, a day without fitness is like a day without sleep. The gym is my second home. In fact, I would change the saying, "there's no place like home" to "there's no place like gym". But if there's a place that I'd love to spend as much time as I do at the gym, it would be Parkside Church Charleston where I go to build my faith muscle. Check out my "Links" page to link to my favorite Charleston gyms and to Parkside Church.

Fitness Background:
Since 2013, I have been living my dream and happily fulfilling my passion as a personal trainer and indoor cycling instructor for the Wellness Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. I have also recently joined the awesome instructor team at Crunch Fitness! Nothing fulfills my heart more than knowing that I have played a role in improving the health and wellness of someone or that I have helped them achieve their fitness goals. My mission is to encourage, to inspire, to motivate...to make a positive contribution and difference in the lives of others.

In 2014, I took my passion for fitness a step further and followed my dream of entering the world of bodybuilding. I competed in my very first NPC Women's Physique Competition on May 3, 2014 at the NPC Palmetto Classic in Columbia, SC where I placed 4th. In August of 2016, I competed at the NPC Excalibur Bodybuilding Championships in Charleston, SC where I placed 1st overall in Women's Physique. I believe that bodybuilding is truly an art and is the embodiment of self-discipline and self-mastery. I competed in my very first USPA Powerlifting meet in February of 2018. Competition or no competition though, lifting for me is life and training for life is what counts because life is what it’s all about. Living my healthiest, happiest, strongest life while having a positive, uplifting influence on others is my ultimate endeavor.

From loss to a new lease on life...
Have I always been Fit Nick? No...I have not. It has been a transformation...one that was catalyzed by loss...the loss of my mother to heart disease. My mother passed away at the early age of 47 after suffering her first heart attack. This marked a proverbial wake up call in my own life. I determined that the best way to honor my mother was by making healthy lifestyle changes in my life and by becoming a public advocate for heart disease awareness among women. In 2011, with the help of MUSC cardiologist Dr. Marian Taylor, we began Charleston's first annual "Go Red Run", which was held annually for several years in memory of my mother with the mission of educating the public and raising awareness about heart disease among both men and women.

My mother saved my life...because of her, I have a new lease on life...her death was not in vain. I am a testament that out of life's most difficult challenges, we become stronger and can be transformed for the better.

In a "nutshell", that is my story...just a girl with a passion for health and wellness and a desire for fulfilling my purpose in life to be a "FitSpiration" to others by serving as an encourager and motivator to others to live their healthiest, fittest life...one life to live, live it well!
